The University of West Florida is getting a future SEC road trip.

The UWF Argonauts will open the 2029 football season at the University of Arkansas on Saturday, August 25, 2029, marking the first meeting between the two programs. Arkansas will host the game in Fayetteville at what will be known as CommunityAmerica Razorback Stadium.

For UWF, the matchup is another sign of how quickly the Pensacola program is moving up the college football landscape.

UWF Is Headed to the SEC

Arkansas is one of the members of the Southeastern Conference, meaning the Argos will be traveling to face an SEC program just three seasons after beginning their transition to NCAA Division I.

UWF officially moved to Division I athletics in 2026, with football joining the United Athletic Conference. The university is going through a three year NCAA reclassification process, with full NCAA postseason eligibility scheduled to begin once that transition is completed in 2029.

That makes the 2029 Arkansas game part of a major new chapter for UWF football.

The Game Will Be in Fayetteville

Saturday, August 25, 2029

Fayetteville, Arkansas

Arkansas will host UWF in its 2029 season opener.

The game is scheduled for CommunityAmerica Razorback Stadium, the future name of Arkansas' home stadium beginning with the 2027 football season.

The August 25 date will also make it an unusually early season opener for Arkansas.

This Will Be the First Meeting Between the Programs

UWF and Arkansas have never played each other in football.

The matchup will give the Argos an opportunity to play at an SEC stadium against a program with a long history of major college football competition.

For Pensacola fans, it also creates a pretty unusual road trip opportunity: following the hometown Argos to an SEC campus for a season opener.

UWF Has Come a Long Way

UWF launched its football program in 2016 and spent its first decade competing at the Division II level.

During that period, the Argos won the 2019 Division II national championship and captured three Gulf South Conference championships.

The program then began its move to Division I in 2026, joining the United Athletic Conference for football.

UWF's first Division I season included an opening night matchup against Southern Illinois at PenAir Field in Pensacola.

By the time the Argos travel to Arkansas in 2029, the program is scheduled to have completed its NCAA transition.

A Big Road Trip for Argo Nation

The game is still nearly three years away, so kickoff time, television information and ticket details have not been announced.

But the matchup is already one worth putting on the calendar.

UWF will be traveling from Pensacola to Fayetteville to open its 2029 season against an SEC opponent in one of college football's major stadium environments.

For a program that played its first football game less than 15 years earlier, it will be another significant milestone for UWF Athletics.
