The shortened post Labor Day week has plenty happening around Pensacola, Perdido Key and Navarre Beach.

Bulls on the Beach brings three nights of professional bull riding to Flora-Bama, Pensacola has its own two night rodeo, Navarre Beach hosts one of its longest running sailing weekends and Pensacola Beach has another free movie night.

We also mixed in a few different bookable activities this week, including golf carts, jet skis and a downtown dessert tour.

Here are some of the best things to do around Pensacola this week.

Spend Three Nights at Bulls on the Beach

Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, September 12

Gates open at 6 PM

Rodeo begins at 8 PM

Flora-Bama

Perdido Key

One of September’s biggest events starts Thursday night at Flora-Bama.

The 13th Annual Bulls on the Beach brings professional bull riders from around the country to Perdido Key for three nights of live rodeo action.

Thursday is Kids Night and Camo Cowboy Night.

Friday features a Patriotic Tribute.

Saturday closes the weekend with 90s Country Night.

A portion of proceeds from the event benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Single night tickets are $45 for adults, $20 for ages 7 through 17 and free for children 6 and younger.

If you are planning to go Friday or Saturday, buying tickets ahead of time is a good idea.

Watch Hoppers on Pensacola Beach

Friday, September 11

Sunset

Gulfside Pavilion

Casino Beach

Pensacola Beach

Cinemas in the Sand continues Friday night with a free outdoor showing of Hoppers.

The movie will be projected onto a giant screen near the Gulfside Pavilion with the Gulf of Mexico just steps away.

Admission is free.

Bring a beach chair or blanket and arrive early enough to grab dinner, walk the beach or spend some time around Casino Beach before the movie begins at sunset.

The screening is weather permitting.

Spend the Weekend at the Juana Good Time Regatta

Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13

Juana’s Pagodas and Sailors’ Grill

1451 Navarre Beach Causeway

Navarre Beach

One of Navarre Beach’s longest running watersports traditions takes over Santa Rosa Sound this weekend.

The 36th Annual Juana Good Time Regatta brings three days of multihull sailing, beach racing, parties, food and live music to Juana’s.

Friday begins with the Wish for Wind Party from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Saturday’s distance races are scheduled to begin around 11:30 AM.

Sunday switches to buoy and triangle racing beginning around 11 AM before the weekend concludes with an awards party.

The event includes everything from smaller beach cats to trimarans and larger multihull cruisers.

Experienced sailors without their own boat can also enter the Hobie Wave Timed Beach Races using rental Hobie Waves from Navarre Beach Ski & Sail.

Even if you are not racing, Juana’s waterfront location makes this a good weekend to grab lunch or a drink and watch the sailboats on Santa Rosa Sound.

See the Shorty’s Safe Haven PCA Rodeo

Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12

Gates open at 5 PM

Rodeo begins at 7 PM

Escambia County Equestrian Center

7750 Mobile Highway

Pensacola

You do not have to drive to Flora-Bama to catch rodeo action this weekend.

The 2nd Annual Shorty’s Safe Haven PCA Rodeo takes over the Escambia County Equestrian Center Friday and Saturday night.

The two night event includes bull riding, bronc riding, roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling and additional entertainment.

There will also be vendors, activities and other attractions around the rodeo grounds.

Tickets are $18 when purchased online and $20 at the gate.

Children 3 and younger get in free.

Shorty’s Safe Haven is a nonprofit organization, making this a local rodeo weekend with a charitable connection.

Rent a Golf Cart and Explore Pensacola Beach

Available by reservation

Pensacola Beach

Here is something we have not featured much in the weekly guide.

Instead of moving your car every time you want to go from the beach to lunch, the Boardwalk or another attraction, rent a golf cart and use it to explore Pensacola Beach.

Four passenger golf cart rentals are available through Portofino Adventures and can be reserved online through Must Do Pensacola. Golf carts are one of the newer bookable options featured in our local activity marketplace.

This works especially well if you are staying on Pensacola Beach for several days or have multiple stops planned around the island.

Take a Jet Ski Ride on Pensacola Beach

Available by reservation

Pensacola Beach

September still feels plenty like summer on Pensacola Beach.

If you want something faster than a beach chair, jet ski rentals give you a chance to get onto the water without committing an entire day to a tour or boat rental.

Jet ski rentals are currently one of the bookable watersports options featured through Must Do Pensacola.

It is an easy activity to pair with lunch, a few hours on the beach or Friday night’s Cinemas in the Sand.

Eat Your Way Through Downtown on a Dessert Tour

Available on select dates

Downtown Pensacola

Not every activity this week has to involve the beach.

Go Retro’s Dessert Madness tour gives visitors a guided way to explore downtown Pensacola while stopping for desserts along the way.

Go Retro describes the experience as a guided dessert tasting tour, and its Pensacola tours operate on varying schedules throughout the week.

This is a good option for a date, visitors looking for something different downtown or anyone who would rather eat dessert than spend another afternoon in the sun.

Check live availability before making plans.
