The city has reopened many major parks and recreation facilities, but dozens of neighborhood locations remain closed for inspections and repairs.

Pensacola has reopened many of its most visited parks following Hurricane Isaias, including Bayview Park, Bruce Beach, Community Maritime Park, Plaza de Luna and Veterans Memorial Park.

However, dozens of neighborhood parks remain closed while crews remove hazards, inspect playgrounds and repair storm damage. The city’s official status list was most recently updated November 4.

Residents should check a park’s current status before leaving home and remain outside all fenced or closed areas.

Selected Popular Parks and Facilities That Are Open

As of the city’s November 4 update, the following high use locations are open:

• Bayou Texar Boat Launch
• Bayview Community Center
• Bayview Park
• Blake Doyle Skatepark
• Bruce Beach
• Community Maritime Park
• Exchange Park
• Hawkshaw Memorial Park
• Hollis T. Williams Park
• Legion Field
• Lions Park
• Miraflores Park
• Plaza de Luna
• Roger Scott Dog Park
• Roger Scott Tennis Center
• Seville Square
• Tippin Park
• Veterans Memorial Park

Roger Scott Tennis Center has reopened all courts. Some portions of the larger Roger Scott Athletic Complex may still be closed during cleanup.

The Vickrey Center is open for the YMCA after school program, and its playground is open.

Additional neighborhood parks and recreation facilities have also reopened. Review the City of Pensacola’s live status list before visiting because conditions may change.

These Parks and Facilities Remain Closed

The city’s November 4 list identifies the following locations as closed:

• Alabama Square
• Baars Park
• Bay Bluffs Park
• Baycliff Estates Park
• Baywoods Park
• Belvedere Park
• Bill Gregory Park
• Camelot Park
• Chimney Park
• D’Evereux Park
• Dunmire Woods Park
• Durant Park
• Eastgate Park
• East Pensacola Heights Clubhouse
• Estramadura Square
• Fairchild Park
• Firestone Park
• Fort George
• Granada Subdivision Park
• Greenwood Park
• Gull Point Resource Center
• Hitzman Optimist Park
• Lamancha Square
• Lavallet Park
• Malaga Square
• McNealy Park
• Miralla Park
• Miranda Square
• Operto Square
• Peaden Park
• Springdale Park
• Tierra Verde Park
• Toledo Square
• Wayside Park
• Woodcliff Park
• Zamora Square

Fricker Resource Center is also closed for renovations rather than being listed as a storm recovery closure.

Reopening dates have not been announced for these locations. A park should be treated as closed until the city officially changes its status.

Several Locations Have Limited Access

Osceola Golf Course has reopened its driving range and holes 1 through 9. An opening date for holes 10 through 18 remains unconfirmed.

The Sanders Beach Corrine Jones Resource Center is open, but only nonfenced portions of the surrounding park are available.

Bayview Senior Center is operating as a Multi Agency Resource Center. The schedule for regular senior programming will be determined after that recovery use ends.

Visitors should not cross barriers simply because part of a park appears clear. Crews are still evaluating trees, fences, electrical systems, playground equipment and other amenities.

Do Not Use Park Electrical Outlets Yet

The city says electrical outlets should not be used at reopened parks until inspections are completed.

That restriction is important for anyone planning a picnic, birthday celebration, vendor activity or other gathering requiring power. A park’s general reopening does not mean every amenity has been cleared.

Anyone with an existing facility reservation should confirm its status directly with Pensacola Parks and Recreation before purchasing supplies or inviting guests.

Senior Meal Distribution Continues

Senior meal distribution remains active at three locations, subject to preorder availability:

• Gull Point Resource Center parking lot: pickup service
• Cobb Resource Center: drive through service
• Bayview Senior Center: active distribution site

Meals are coordinated through the Council on Aging of West Florida. Seniors and caregivers should confirm availability before traveling to a distribution site.

How to Report a Park Hazard

Downed limbs, damaged playground equipment and other hazardous conditions can be reported through Pensacola 311.

Residents can dial 311 from a local phone or submit a report at Pensacola311.com. The city asks the public to remain out of closed parks and off playgrounds that have not been officially inspected.

Park conditions will continue to change as recovery work progresses. Check the city’s live list immediately before visiting, especially when planning a group outing or traveling across town.
