When and Where Is the Welcome-Home Event?

Thursday, September 17
Scheduled flight arrival: 4:30 p.m.

Pensacola International Airport
Second floor near the TSA checkpoint
2430 Airport Blvd.
Pensacola, Florida 32504

The gathering takes place before the security checkpoint, so participants do not need an airline ticket to attend.

Arrival times can change because of weather, air traffic and other operating conditions. Check American Airlines Flight AA5139 before leaving for the airport and arrive early enough to park and reach the second floor.

Who Is Returning?

The veterans are completing a three-day Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C., where participants visit memorials dedicated to their military service.

The returning group includes a 100-year-old World War II veteran and a two-time Purple Heart recipient.

Representatives expected at the homecoming include the Patriot Guard Riders, University of West Florida ROTC, Daughters of the American Revolution, Santa Rosa Pipes and Drums and Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard.

Parking at Pensacola International Airport

The airport has not announced complimentary event parking.

Current short-visit rates include:

  • Parking garage: $1 per half hour

  • Short-term lot: $2 per hour

  • Surface lot: $2 per hour

  • Lots 1, 2 and 3: $2 per hour

The garage connects directly to the terminal by the Level 2 Sky Bridge. The short-term and surface lots are approximately a three-minute walk from the terminal.

The airport’s free cell phone lot is intended for drivers waiting inside their vehicles and is not an event parking area. Vehicles cannot be left unattended there.

Why the Public Welcome Matters

Honor Flight trips are designed to ensure veterans can visit national memorials built to recognize their service. The airport homecoming gives the wider Pensacola community a direct way to thank the participants.

Signs and flags are appropriate, but visitors should keep walkways and passenger areas clear and follow directions from airport staff.

Check the flight status, allow time for parking and be in the second-floor public area before the scheduled 4:30 p.m. arrival.
