Thanksgiving morning in Pensacola doesn't have to start in the kitchen!

The annual Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot is returning Thursday, November 26, 2026, bringing runners, walkers and families together for a Thanksgiving tradition along the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast.

Now celebrating its 16th year, the Trot for Thought 5K combines fitness, fun and community support with a race that benefits brain cancer research and local children in need.

From a kids' Turkey Dash and festive costumes to a post-race celebration with food, music and drinks, there's plenty to enjoy before heading home for Thanksgiving dinner.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2026 Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot.

When Is the Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot?

The 16th annual Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026.

The race begins and ends at Casino Beach, making it a scenic way to kick off the holiday with family and friends.

Event details:

Date: Thursday, November 26, 2026

Location: Casino Beach, 20 Casino Beach Boardwalk, Pensacola Beach

Kids' Turkey Dash: 8 AM

5K Turkey Trot: 8:30 AM

Post-Race Celebration: 9–11 AM

Same-Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Begins at 7 AM

Participants can run or walk the 5K course, making the event accessible to people with different fitness levels.

With Thanksgiving falling on a Thursday, the race is also a great activity for families hosting out-of-town visitors during the holiday week.

A Thanksgiving Tradition With a Purpose

The Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot is about more than getting a little exercise before Thanksgiving dinner.

The event began as a way to honor the memory of Sabine Mireille Laguna while supporting brain cancer research at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.

Over the years, the event has grown into a community tradition that brings people together to raise awareness and funding for important causes.

In 2026, organizers are expanding the event's charitable impact through a partnership with Children in Crisis, a Northwest Florida nonprofit supporting children in foster care and families in need.

According to organizers, 100% of event proceeds are donated to charity, benefiting the brain tumor center and Children in Crisis.

That means participants can enjoy a festive Thanksgiving morning while supporting medical research and children in the local community.

Kids Can Join the Turkey Dash

The event isn't just for adults.

The Kids' Turkey Dash begins at 8 AM and gives younger participants a chance to join the Thanksgiving festivities before the main 5K.

The approximately 200-yard dash takes place on Pensacola Beach, with children chasing a turkey character toward the finish.

Afterward, participants can enjoy a seasonal craft activity.

The Turkey Dash offers a fun way for younger children to be part of race day without completing the full 5K distance.

Families are encouraged to arrive early for check-in and to allow time for parking.

Costumes, Music and a Thanksgiving Celebration

One of the best parts of the Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot is the atmosphere.

Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite Thanksgiving costumes, from turkey hats and pilgrim outfits to creative group costumes.

There's even a costume contest with prizes, adding a little extra fun to the morning.

After the 5K, participants can enjoy a post-race celebration at the Casino Beach pavilion from 9–11 AM.

The celebration includes a DJ, race awards, raffles and breakfast refreshments such as bagels, muffins and fruit.

Beer and mimosas are also among the refreshments advertised for the post-race gathering.

It's a great opportunity to celebrate with fellow participants before heading home for Thanksgiving festivities.

How Much Does the Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot Cost?

Registration is open for both the 5K and the Kids' Turkey Dash.

The event uses tiered pricing, so registration costs increase as Thanksgiving approaches.

Where to Pick Up Your Race Packet

Participants can pick up their race packets and shirts before Thanksgiving to make race morning easier.

Advance packet pickup is scheduled for:

Tuesday, November 24: Noon–5 PM

Wednesday, November 25: Noon–5 PM

Location: Laguna's, 460 Pensacola Beach Boulevard, Pensacola Beach

Same-day packet pickup is also available beginning at 7 AM on Thanksgiving morning at the Gulfside Pavilion on Casino Beach.

Organizers allow participants to pick up packets for other registered runners by providing their names.

Picking up your packet in advance can make race morning more convenient, especially for families participating together.

Can You Walk the Pensacola Beach Turkey Trot?

Absolutely!

Although the event is called a Turkey Trot 5K, walking participants are welcome.

Organizers do not offer a separate walking division, but walkers can participate in the main race.

The event is also stroller-friendly, provided participants remain considerate of others along the course.

Dogs are welcome too, as long as they're kept on leashes and owners clean up after them.

That makes the Turkey Trot a particularly appealing Thanksgiving activity for families, friends and even four-legged companions.

Participants looking to compete can also earn awards in multiple age divisions.

Where to Park for the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

The race begins near Casino Beach, with parking available in the Casino Beach parking lots and the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk parking area.

The event's main address is:

20 Casino Beach Boardwalk, Pensacola Beach, FL 32561

Because the race takes place on Thanksgiving morning, participants should plan to arrive early enough to park, check in and make their way to the starting area.

Same-day registration and packet pickup begin at 7 AM, followed by the Kids' Turkey Dash at 8 AM and the 5K at 8:30 AM.

Check the official event website before race day for any changes to parking or course access.

Pensacola Also Has a Downtown Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

The beach isn't the only place to participate in a Thanksgiving Day race.

A separate Pensacola Turkey Trot 5K is also scheduled for November 26 in downtown Pensacola.

That event begins at 8 AM near Seville Square and includes both running and walking options.

The downtown race features a post-race gathering with refreshments and an awards ceremony at Seville Square.

Participants should make sure they're registering for the correct event, as the downtown and Pensacola Beach Turkey Trots have different organizers, locations, start times and registration websites.

For the downtown event, visit the Pensacola Turkey Trot 5K registration page.
