New Restaurant Announced to Replace Wendy’s in Gulf Breeze Proper
The recently closed Wendy’s in Gulf Breeze Proper is already getting a replacement and it’s one that locals will recognize.
The City of Gulf Breeze has announced that Foosackly’s will be opening a new location in the former Wendy’s building, bringing a popular regional restaurant to one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors.
What’s Replacing the Wendy’s in Gulf Breeze
Foosackly’s, the family owned fast casual restaurant known for its chicken fingers, sauces, and loyal following across the Gulf Coast, will move into the former Wendy’s space shortly after the restaurant’s recent closure.
City officials say the location makes sense as Foosackly’s continues expanding throughout the Pensacola area and nearby markets.
The site sits among high traffic dining options like First Watch, Chipotle, and Panera, helping solidify Gulf Breeze Proper as more of a dining destination for residents and beachbound visitors.
When Will Foosackly’s Open in Gulf Breeze
According to the City of Gulf Breeze, the property is currently transitioning ownership. Wendy’s is in the process of removing its equipment, after which renovations are expected to begin.
City officials anticipate renovation activity starting during the first half of February, with Foosackly’s planning to open later this year following permitting and build out. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
Why the Wendy’s Location Closed
City officials also addressed the Wendy’s closure, explaining it was part of a national plan to close approximately 300 underperforming Wendy’s locations nationwide. The closure was not related to Gulf Breeze market conditions.
The site previously operated as a Dairy Queen and faced additional challenges during the Pensacola Bay Bridge closure and the COVID period, contributing to long term performance issues unrelated to the local dining demand.
