Naval Air Station Pensacola has announced updated public access hours, affecting some of the area’s most popular attractions including the National Naval Aviation Museum and Pensacola Lighthouse.

New Visiting Hours

Until further notice, public visitation is limited to weekends only:

Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Monday through Friday: Closed to public visitors

These changes apply to all public access areas on the base.

Visitor Entry Requirements

Visitors without a Department of War ID must complete an entry process before accessing NAS Pensacola.

Here is how to enter:

• Check in at the Visitor Control Center located at the Main Gate on Navy Blvd
• After clearance, proceed to the West Gate at the south end of Blue Angel Parkway
• Follow all base access guidelines during your visit

What This Means for Visitors

If you are planning to visit the National Naval Aviation Museum or Pensacola Lighthouse, you will need to plan your trip for the weekend.

These are two of the most popular attractions in Pensacola, especially during spring break and peak tourist season, so expect higher traffic during the limited visiting hours.

Plan Ahead

With reduced access days, arriving earlier in the day is recommended to allow time for the check in process and to fully explore the base attractions before closing.

Impact on Blue Angels Practice Viewing

These updated access hours will likely impact viewing Blue Angels practice flights from inside NAS Pensacola during the week.

With the base now closed to public visitors Monday through Friday, traditional on base viewing spots will be limited to weekends only.

As a result, Blue Angels viewing cruises and on water experiences will likely see increased demand and fill up quickly during practice season.

If you are planning to watch the Blue Angels, booking a cruise in advance is one of the best ways to guarantee a spot with a clear view of the show.
