Danetoberfest Celebrates 10 Years in Downtown Pensacola

Some of Pensacola’s biggest four legged visitors are taking over Seville Square for the 10th annual Danetoberfest.
Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue will hold its anniversary festival Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The family friendly event brings together adoptable Great Danes, rescue alumni, vendors, food trucks and dog owners while raising money for the Pensacola based organization.

The organizer has not published an admission price in the available event announcement. Visitors should confirm whether general admission is free before attending. Food, merchandise and raffle entries will require separate purchases.
What Is Happening at Danetoberfest?
More than 30 vendors are expected to sell arts, crafts, dog themed merchandise and treats for people and pets.
Food trucks will serve throughout the event. A complete vendor and food truck lineup was not available when this article was prepared.
Guests will also have opportunities to meet adoptable Great Danes and dogs previously placed through the rescue. Meeting a dog at the festival does not replace Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue’s regular adoption application and matching process.
This year’s anniversary theme is “Not All Heroes Wear Capes… Some Drool.”
Raffle Prizes and Fundraising
Danetoberfest is Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue’s largest annual fundraiser. The organization hopes to raise $15,000 during the anniversary event.
Premium raffle tickets cost $5 each or six for $20. Announced prizes include:
A private yacht tour
A beach hotel stay
A custom painting
Additional raffle tickets for smaller prizes cost $1 each. The rescue says proceeds help cover veterinary treatment, medical supplies, food and other expenses associated with caring for displaced Great Danes.
Can Visitors Bring Their Dogs?
Well behaved, vaccinated dogs are welcome. Retractable leashes are not allowed.
Owners should bring water and waste bags, maintain control of their animals and avoid forcing interactions with unfamiliar dogs. October temperatures can still be warm in Pensacola, so visitors should monitor pavement heat and give their pets breaks away from crowded areas.
Service animals remain subject to applicable public access protections.
Parking Near Seville Square
No dedicated festival parking program has been announced.
Street parking and public parking areas are available throughout downtown Pensacola, although spaces immediately surrounding Seville Square can fill quickly during events. Visitors should follow posted restrictions and avoid blocking residential driveways.
Palafox Street and the Jefferson Street parking garage are within walking distance. Garage rates and enforcement hours should be checked before parking.
Ten Years of Helping Great Danes
Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue is a Pensacola based nonprofit serving communities across Florida and neighboring Gulf Coast states.
The organization does not operate a traditional shelter. Its available dogs live in foster homes while volunteers evaluate their health, behavior and placement needs.
That model makes fundraising especially important because the rescue remains responsible for food and veterinary expenses while dogs await permanent homes.
