Ballet Pensacola is opening its 48th season with a brand new take on one of literature’s most famous stories.
Frankenstein runs October 2 through 4 at the Clark Family Cultural Center in downtown Pensacola, with four performances scheduled across the weekend.
The production is a world premiere created by internationally acclaimed guest choreographer Gonzalo Galguera and is inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic novel.
A New Ballet Based on Frankenstein
This is not simply a retelling of the familiar monster story.
Ballet Pensacola says the production follows Victor Frankenstein beyond the moment he creates life and into the consequences of abandoning what he has made.
The ballet explores themes of obsession, grief, isolation and responsibility while using choreography and music to reinterpret the story for the stage.
For anyone looking for something seasonal without going the traditional haunted house route, Frankenstein gives Halloween weekend an arts and culture option right in downtown Pensacola.

All performances take place at the Clark Family Cultural Center at 400 S. Jefferson Street.
Where to Get Tickets
Tickets are available through Ballet Pensacola.
For performances at the Clark Family Cultural Center, tickets can also be purchased in person at the box office at 400 S. Jefferson Street or by phone at 850 432 2042.
The box office typically opens one hour before curtain, while theater doors open about 30 minutes before the performance. Ballet Pensacola recommends arriving early for parking, ticket pickup and seating.
What to Wear
You do not need to dress formally.
Ballet Pensacola says many guests choose business casual attire, but there is no formal dress requirement. Jeans are fine, and suits and ties are not required.
Can Kids Attend?
Children are welcome at Ballet Pensacola performances, although the organization leaves it up to parents to decide whether a particular production is appropriate for their child.
Because Frankenstein deals with darker themes, families with younger children may want to keep that in mind when choosing a performance.
Frankenstein Opens Ballet Pensacola’s 48th Season
The production serves as the opening performance of Ballet Pensacola’s 2026 to 2027 season.
The season continues later this year with FooFoo Fest programming in November and The Nutcracker at the Saenger Theatre in December, followed by Alice in Wonderland in April 2027.
